Scott’s Answer

If you want to list your GPA on your LinkedIn profile, you can follow these steps:

1. Go to your LinkedIn profile and click on the "Add profile section" button.

2. Select "Background" and then choose "Education."

3. Fill out the information about your education, including the name of your school, your degree, your field of study, and your graduation date.

4. In the "Grades" section, you can either choose to enter your GPA or leave it blank.

5. If you choose to enter your GPA, select the option to enter your "Grade point average" and enter your GPA as it appears on your transcript.

6. Click "Save" to add your education information to your profile.

It's worth noting that while adding your GPA to your LinkedIn profile can be useful if you're a recent graduate, it may be less important for those who have been in the workforce for a while. In some cases, leaving the GPA field blank might be better than listing a low or average GPA.

Kathryn J. (KP)’s Answer

I agree with Scott about when to list or not list a GPA. If you are pursuing work within your major and your major GPA was higher than your overall/cumulative GPA, you can always list that one instead. Many employers are excited to see excellent skills, rather than a GPA -- your ability to critically think/problem-solve, communicate clearly with others in writing and verbally, as well as work independently and in a team, are all highly regarded skills according to employer surveys by NACE (National Association of Colleges and Employers).
