Trinity - I didn't actually work as a Flight Attendant, but as a Licensed Mechanic and Maintenance Programs Technical Writer.
I have talked to a lot of Flight Attendants who worked for the airline I was working for. Most of them liked the job and had been with the company for 10 or more years. It does take a few years to build up your seniority, then you can start to chose the flights and days you want to work and the places you want to go.
Some of the Flight Attendants would fly a lot the first 2 weeks of the month, (get their hours ins) and then take the rest of the month off.
A couple of things I can tell you:
With any company once I got past 5 years, it became harder for me to leave because I would be giving up the following:
A. Seniority - who wants to start out at the bottom again.
B. I had acquired some pretty good vacation time (now called PTO, Personal Time Off), 3 weeks a year the 12 paid holidays.
C. I was fully vested in the Pension Plan, and 401K plan.
Finally as with any job there are good days and bad days. Unless it is a real crummy company the good days will far out weigh the bad days.
I hope this helps you out. Best of luck on your choices and future endeavors.
Wayne
