I would recommend community college or a local college. Tech is very general in school, and the most info beyond basic taught info will come from your own studies on your own time. I recommend not racking up high student debt.

Make sure whatever school you go to you do this:
-Join clubs, start clubs, lead clubs
-Attend conferences, meetings and events in your field of study
-Create a LinkedIN and follow companies and employees from companies you might want to work for

Jeanette,

Thanks for your question. Adding to Kris's answer, if you are interested in self-learning options outside of the classroom there are a lot of great and free online sites to learn how to code. More coding (formal classes or self-learning) will only help you get better.

Learn to code sites (there are more out there):

I agree with Taryn's answer above. Starting at a community college for your first two years would be beneficial. Therefore if you learn may be CS isn't what you truly wanted you you would be left with loads of debt. Also, if you do and finish the first two year you automatically have an associates degree to your name as you continue to get a Bachelor's, if you choose.

Start with CS50 it's a great resource in the basis of Computer Science.

Kris’s Answer

There are several colleges in the United States that have excellent engineering programs. I would search out what are the best engineering colleges in your state and go from there. You will want to get a degree in Computer Science and Engineering. From there you need to decide if you want to pursue the software side or the hardware side of things. But you can decide that while you are in college after you have been accepted. I hope this helps.
