It all really depends on the career field you're interested in. There are some careers where you can either dive in straight out of high-school or merely require a certificate or going to a trade school. As for the careers that require a college degree it's all about researching the colleges. Always keep your budget in mind. College can be expensive and the use student loans are best kept to an absolute minimum. Since your still in middle school you have time to plan and get a feel for what you want to do. Don't feel the need to rush yourself.

Giovanni, generally speaking, the answer is yes. From a purely practical standpoint, college graduates earn just about twice of what high school graduates do. But "worth" means a lot more than that. And since you're already interested in college, I don't see any reason why that shouldn't be your goal. College helps students learn to think, to explore, to ask questions, to make decisions, to find a path that's right for them. Yes, private colleges in particular are expensive, but you can start working toward getting a scholarship or choose to at least start with a public college. And maybe by the time you're ready, enough politicians will have realized the benefits of at least making community college free. In regard to struggling, if you work on your writing skills, your organizational skills and your time management skills, and take school and yourself seriously, you likely won't unnecessarily struggle.

For many career paths the degrees hold real importance and we are paid based on that. You can apply for scholarships to study in college. In some countries in Europe the cost of degree courses are very less maybe you can consider that. Also the tution fees varies depending upon the course you are doing in college. But you can also work part-time when you are in college to support yourself. It is not easy path but it will be worth it in your career.
