Hello, Lila !

I would be happy to share some advice with you about modeling. I do not know how old you are, but if you are under 18, you will first need to have a parent or a supportive, dedicated adult oversee whatever you do with your modeling. If you are over 18 you can try it on your own.

Well, there's so much you'll have to do actually. The first thing would be to enroll in modeling classes where you live. You don't have to go to modeling school if you don't want to but it will be good for making connections as well as learning about different types of modeling, how to do a photo shoot, posture and walking, make up, the business end of modeling, and health and safety. If you can't or do not want to go to modeling school, I would advise reading up on modeling and viewing how-to videos. You will than have to get some photos taken and sign up on some child or regular category modeling websites like Go Models. They have a category for regular models and plus size models and Child Models aged 2 - 15. Read the website and see which category(s) you qualify for. So this is how you start. I do recommend getting in person training, though.

To get a job as a model, your agency will send you out to be seen for different jobs. The client will already have in mind the type they are looking for and you will also need to ace the interview and have some experience with modeling. If you make a lot of personal contacts you may get work through them without much experience. We all have to start somewhere. You can also get work by directly sending your photos out to job notices. Sign up with Indeed first because there are a lot of jobs for various types of modeling on there sometimes. You won't be able to start a career until you are sure that you have transportation and are not in school full time. You may get a job that takes 5 hours or a job that takes 5 days. The website Yelp has a nice listing for modeling agencies in your area and I have provided the link of this list for you below.

Keep up with the latest styles, look at a lot of fashion magazines and pay attention to commercials, fashion magazines and print advertising because those are the media that you may work in one day. You've probably heard of a portfolio that you must have also. That is a collection of hard copy photos as well as can be on line but you'll need to bring your portfolio with you to show people. So try to have both.

It is a lot of work, warrants a lot of support but it can be done if you are ready for it. Keep asking for advice and try to ask very specific questions as modeling is not so broad nor is it easy or quick to explain how to "start" being a model. Read more about the subject and continue to visit us here and we'll be happy to answer any other questions based on specifics. I think that you will do well and eventually be very happy in the industry. Never give up and I wish you the very best !
