Brittney’s Answer

It depends upon what you mean as perks. My boss probably gets the most satisfaction out of successfully diagnosing, treating, and seeing her patients get better. Surgeons get the most satisfaction out of performing, usually complex, surgeries successfully. For some vets it’s about treating patients affordably, so pets that would otherwise go untreated, get to see a vet. It really depends upon the person. And the field you want to pursue. It’s highly unlikely you will be rich - the greatest perk is changing lives for the better (both animal and their human).

By shadowing, you can see if becoming a vet is what you want to pursue. You may find that an animal clinic is not your preferred place of work and you would rather work in a zoo .
