I would suggest taking any classes or even clubs related to working on the school yearbook, writing classes of all kinds, and even speech class.

Learn to type. Seriously. You need to learn how to type properly and not just be content with pecking at the keyboard with one or two fingers. The typing class I took in high school was one of the most valuable courses I ever had in terms of how much it still benefits my daily work as both a journalist and a teacher.
