Dear Marisa,

Here are some top-notch nursing schools in the US that you might consider:

1. Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing, Baltimore, MD: [Visit Website](https://nursing.jhu.edu/)
2. University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) School of Nursing, San Francisco, CA: [Visit Website](https://nursing.ucsf.edu/)
3. Duke University School of Nursing, Durham, NC: [Visit Website](https://nursing.duke.edu/)
4. University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing, Philadelphia, PA: [Visit Website](https://www.upenn.edu/nursing/)
5. Columbia University School of Nursing, New York, NY: [Visit Website](https://nursing.columbia.edu/)
6. University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Nursing, Madison, WI: [Visit Website](https://nursing.wisc.edu/)
7. University of Michigan School of Nursing, Ann Arbor, MI: [Visit Website](https://sphhs.umich.edu/school-of-nursing/)
8. New York University Rory Meyers College of Nursing, New York, NY: [Visit Website](https://nyu-nursing.nyu.edu/)
9. Vanderbilt University School of Nursing, Nashville, TN: [Visit Website](https://www.vanderbilthealthcarecareers.)
10. Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions - MGH IHP, Boston, MA: [Visit Website](https://www.)

As for your second query, once you've earned your CNA certification and completed a nursing program to become a Registered Nurse (RN), you may not necessarily need more certifications to work as a nurse in a clinic or hospital. However, additional certifications could broaden your job prospects and potentially increase your salary, especially in specialized areas like Intensive Care Units or Operating Rooms that require advanced skills (American Association of Colleges of Nursing, 2021). Some popular nursing certifications are: Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA), Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM), Pediatric Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (PCRNP), and Gerontological Clinical Nurse Specialist (GCNS). It's crucial to look into the specific requirements for the nursing position and facility you're interested in to see if more certifications are needed or preferred (National League for Nursing, 2021).

Best Wishes,

Your question opens up a world of possibilities! If you're considering becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), remember that this role is all about supporting the nurses, not necessarily becoming one. However, if your heart is set on nursing, you'll need to finish a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) program and get your license in that field. So, unless you're trying to meet specific requirements set by an organization or for a country outside the U.S, just remember that as a CNA, your certification is as an assistant. Most nursing roles require a license, not just a certification, to practice. So, keep that in mind as you explore your options in the exciting world of nursing!

Hi Marisa,

I would talk with your high school guidance counselor about local schools that offer reputable nursing programs. You can also ask your counselor if your school uses any programs like Xello that help you explore careers and college offerings.

Some things to think about:
If you are a CNA, you could get a job at a hospital that will pay for you to continue your education. Many hospitals offer tuition reimbursement or free tuition to certain schools. This is something you could look into to get school paid for.

Many nursing programs are competitive. You will want to look into local nursing programs and understand how competitive it is to get accepted into the program.

I hope this helps!
