In my experience I don't necessarily feel passionate or fulfilled by the direct work I do as an accountant in my daily role. However, what is important is to find the opportunities within your job/company that do help you feel that way. While I don't dislike the work I do, I have always enjoyed working with young adults/kids and making a difference in their lives. At my company I have the opportunity to volunteer and partake in various events that enable me to work with young adults/kids. For instance, we have many events in which high schools bring in their students and we get to spend the day teaching them about their finances and how to budget. To me this is the fulfilling part of my job. I think it can be hard to want to find the exact role to be fulfilled in but its a matter of how you find those opportunities or make them for yourself.

I am passionate and find fulfillment in my work as as an accountant. While my role is to provide tax advice, clients are frequently asking me for general business advice. My clients value my input as a broad professional who knows them, their business, and are there to assist when they need help. The organization that I work for is a values based organization and we bring our values when providing advice to our clients and we also participate in numerous community volunteering projects as well. I have a lot of pride in the work that I do and helping clients solve their important business issue. Skills that I think are important in the account industry are: effective communication skills (written and verbal), problem solving skills, attention to detail, being a good question asker and listener.
