How to network successfully in sports photography and sports graphics?

How do network in the field of graphic design and photography? I always feel strange and awkward trying to talk to other designers and photographers because I feel like I am interrupting them. I want to stand out to people and have them think of me for internships and job shadowing, but I am lost in how to do that. But I know the only way to succeed in that field is by creating those relationships to get my dream jobs like taking photos and making graphics for a professional sports team, but how do I do it?

I'm a high school senior and just enrolled to my university to major in Communications, but there is an option for Sports Communications. I want to be a sports photojournalist; should I think about changing my major or leave it as is Any other advice you'd give a young sports photographer who's trying to kick-start her career??

I already have a website set up to sell photos and showcase my portfolio. I'm currently an Editor-in-Chief of my school's yearbook and attend sporting events regularly. I also plan on joining the newspaper at my university and the Association of Women in Sports Media chapter there. Is there anything else I need to do now and/or plan on doing throughout college?

What do you recommend I do to become a professional sports photographer?

I would love to know how to get a job working on the field of a professional sports game (a NFL game perhaps?) as a photographer. I have a passion for sports and I especially love football. It would be a dream come true to photograph games. I am a junior in college at San Jose State. Any recommendations to help me achieve this career goal? #sports #photography #espn #nfl #nba #sports-photography
