Nicholas’ Career Stories
What is the one piece of career advice you wish someone gave you when you were younger?
Learn to write. Write everyday. You must work your craft until you master it. It doesn't matter what field you are in. It is important to be able to communicate efficiently and effectively.
How did you start building your network?
The best way to start to build your network is get to know the people that you interact with everyday. You will be surprised by their stories and interest. In addition, the people you know can connect you to at least 10 more additional people. Know your interest and find people that are experts in those areas and reach out to them for coffee.
What is it like when your job gets tough?
It can be difficult and overwhelming at times. However, I work in a environment where everyone is very approachable. So if I have a tough day I can talk with fellow attorneys and get their input on the issue. It is necessary to maintain a positive mindset and balance your work load. I have also found that it is important to keep work and personal life separate. So if possible leave your work at work. Just realize that wont always be possible. So have supportive individuals both at home and work.
