How can I effectively combine my knowledge of marketing and personal finance to better serve clients?

I’m currently at college at Charleston Southern University, majoring in Personal Financial Management and Marketing, and I’m planning on becoming a financial advisor. I would like to know my knowledge of marketing can help enhance my work as a financial advisor?

One of the things I did was go to a business and offer my services for free. It gave me the chance to implement what I knew, it also gave me the chance to learn about other ways to make myself better at my craft. It was actually a win win situation. I was able to help the business that I offered my services to, helped me learn some more trucks of the trade and I was able to show other businesses what I could do along with getting a stellar letter of recommendation from that business outlining what I did for them to help their business.
