How should I spend my summer- gaining relevant experience, or gaining money to pay for college?

Hey everyone! Aspiring exotic animal veterinarian here, I'm trying to decide how to use my summer. Last summer and throughout this current school year, I've interned at a vet clinic unpaid. I've just gotten my CVA Level 1 Certification, too. Here are my two decisions- Option 1) Apply to work a paid job at the clinic I've been interning at. I'm comfortable there and pretty sure they would hire me on the spot; however, their pay for the position I would work (vet assistant) is less than nearby restaurants/retail stores, which I find crazy. On the other hand, I would be getting great experience, key to getting into vet school later on (especially since they are the only exotic animal inclusive clinic within an hour's radius of my house). But I would be sacrificing earning good money to help pay for college the next year. Option 2) Work somewhere else, with a more decent pay. I would be saving up for college better, so this would be the more financially wise option. However, I would be missing out on getting good experience having a job at an exotic veterinary clinic, especially one where people already know me and are comfortable with me, since I've interned there for about a year now. Essentially, my dilemma is this: do I go for 1) gaining important experience for vet school or 2) getting better pay to help me afford college? Thanks for any feedback or tips!!!

What is you're biggest advice for getting through college despite countless distractions and the pressure to succeed?

#Spring2025 I'm an incoming first gen college freshman. I'm the first in my family to go to college, so I've had to figure out a lot by myself. I can't afford to fail because of the amount of money college costs. Senioritis has also been hitting hard and I'm scared all these bad procrastination habits will stick. I'm trying to become a CRNA long term and I know it will take so much preservation and hard work. Any motives or advice to overcome my struggles and make it?

How can I decrease the chance of getting stress for the courses I am going to take?

I am a senior this year, and I am getting ready to graduate. Throughout my four years of high school, I noticed that I stressed out too much about the classes I was taking. This caused me to not get enough sleep, which led to me being very tired. I want to avoid getting stressed and, instead, balance my time between school and life outside of school work. I would love to get help on how I can balance my life!

Making connections right off the bat when entering college can be nerve wrecking. While getting out of your comfort zone is the first step, what are some unique ways incoming freshman could branch out and make new connections with others that will make them memorable?

I enjoy putting myself out there and being open to new connections, my concern is setting a great first impression right off the bat. Then especially on large campuses I anticipate it being difficult to be remembered after brief introduction. I'd love to hear people's thoughts!

How can I set myself up for success to become a labor and delivery nurse right after graduating? #Spring25

I am a non-traditional student starting this summer on the path to earn my BSN. I would love to go directly into labor and delivery nursing after graduating (with a goal of becoming a travel L&D nurse after I get some experience) but is this a position that a new nurse can be hired into and what can I do to best set myself up for success to be able to start in this role? #Spring25

I am interested in both English writing and Music, but I am worried a double major might overwhelm me. Is it better to do a double major with the benefit of having two bachelor's degrees or just get a minor?

I plan on going to UC Irvine in the fall, and my main reservation with getting a music minor is not having an official music degree, and I worry this could lower my chances of playing in a professional orchestra.

If policy shifts and funding cuts threaten conservation initiatives, what can I do to help push for lasting change?

I’m a high school senior at Ladue Horton Watkins High School, planning to attend either the University of Connecticut or the University of Missouri-Columbia to pursue a career in wildlife veterinary medicine. While I’m excited about my future, I’m increasingly anxious about how the growing disregard for sustainability and conservation today could limit opportunities for wildlife veterinarians and hinder crucial efforts to protect vulnerable ecosystems in the years ahead.

How can I best explore my interests to pursue a fulfilling career path as an undecided student? What steps can I follow to ensure that my education is worthwhile in the long run in terms of finding a well-paying career I am passionate about?

I am a senior in high school and am currently enrolled in a 4-year university that I will attend this upcoming academic year. I am all over the place in what career I want to follow in the future. First I had an interest in law for the longest time, then throughout high school I was set on working in sports media/management, and just recently I have taken an interest in pursuing physical therapy. So clearly, I am all over the place in what I have an interest in when it comes to career paths. I feel way behind my peers as they are already super passionate and set on what they want to do in life. I am going into college undecided but my worry is how I will be able to figure out what I want to do within the next few years. While being able to receive a great education, I want to make sure that it is worth it and I find something I am passionate about and can make a great career out of.

How can I become the kind of history teacher who not only helps students pass exams, but inspires them to see the relevance of the past in their own lives?

I want to be the kind of history teacher who does more than just help students memorize dates and pass tests. I want to make history feel real and relevant to their lives—something they can connect to, not just something they learn and forget. I’m curious about how I can take big, sometimes overwhelming topics and break them down in a way that’s engaging and meaningful. I wonder what tools, teaching strategies, or even personal habits I’ll need to develop so that my classroom isn’t just a place to learn facts, but a space where students feel inspired to ask questions, challenge ideas, and really think about how the past shapes the present. I want to be that teacher—the one who makes a lasting impact.

How did the people you've met —mentors, friends, or experiences— help you realize what kind of business or nonprofit you wanted to create, Ms. CEO? #Spring25

I'm passionate about launching both a business and a nonprofit foundation to create student internships and build an endowment that supports students like me as my long (long) term career goals. I want to give back to communities that have invested in me. But I'm still figuring out how to invent a product or service that makes an impact. How do you come up with a meaningful idea and identify your target audience? This summer, I’ll be traveling to Vietnam, Japan, and interning in Korea for 6 weeks to study K-beauty marketing and business. I'm especially driven to make financial literacy more accessible to marginalized communities.
