How can I decrease the chance of getting stress for the courses I am going to take?

I am a senior this year, and I am getting ready to graduate. Throughout my four years of high school, I noticed that I stressed out too much about the classes I was taking. This caused me to not get enough sleep, which led to me being very tired. I want to avoid getting stressed and, instead, balance my time between school and life outside of school work. I would love to get help on how I can balance my life!

Hi ! Stress, most of the times, can't be avoided, but is totally fine. The most important is to get to sleep so your brain can get a refresh .
I completely relate to how you're feeling. I’ve always been the kind of person who gets really stressed before major exams, tasks, or big events.
One thing that helped me over the years was an article I read about how our brains can be trained — and that we should train them.
For example, whenever I lay down to sleep and my mind starts racing with thoughts about an upcoming exam, I try to shift my focus to something more calming. I think about a happy memory — maybe a fun time with friends, or a peaceful image like a field of flowers or green grass.

When I was younger, my sister (she’s 9 years older than me) taught me the classic trick of imagining sheep jumping over a fence one by one — and counting them. It sounds simple, but it really helps me fall asleep

Hope you give one of these a try :)

A little bit of stress in life is normal and can actually be good for you. It keeps you alert and ready to learn and grow. I'm glad you know not to stress too much about classes. It's important to focus on schoolwork, but having a good balance between work and life is key to getting the most out of college and doing well in your studies. It's also awesome that you value sleep, as it helps you stay healthy and productive in everything you do.

To achieve a good work/life balance, you might think of college like a job. Depending on your classes, you can treat it as a full-time or part-time job. Some students plan their classes and study time between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., treating those hours as their work time. They make sure to take breaks and have lunch during this period. After 5 p.m., they have time for friends, activities, clubs, exercise, and relaxing. This way, they avoid putting things off and spread out their work over the semester.

This is just one way to help manage the stress that comes with college. Find what works best for you and stick with it. Having routines and schedules can really help keep you balanced!

Life is full of different kinds of stress, like from school, work, family, or friends. It's great that you can recognize when you're stressed and are looking for ways to handle it. Remember, don't worry too much about things you can't change. I'm still learning this, even in my 30s. Stress is a normal part of life.

It's important to make time for yourself. If you keep pushing through stress, it can actually make things worse and affect your work. Taking a break, even for a few minutes, can help refresh your mind and body. It's perfectly okay to step away and then return to your tasks. Just be sure to give yourself the time you need, so you don't end up feeling overwhelmed.

Discover what helps you relax and reset your mind. Whenever stress hits, take that moment for yourself.
