How can you help me to find scholarships towards my major?

I am a first generation freshman English Education major at Southern Connecticut State University. I am excited to be studying at Southern but am concerned about the cost.

Thank you comment icon Hi Andrew, CareerVillage is offering $1,500 scholarships. Just ask a new thoughtful question and include the tag #Spring25 and you will be entered for a chance to receive one. Sharyn Grose, Admin

Hi Andrew. Thanks for this awesome question!

I was the beneficiary of some great scholarships when I applied to college...though that was a little while ago :).

I recommend a book that you can buy on Amazon. The Ultimate Scholarship Book. That book lists scholarships in more ways than you can imagine.

You can see scholarships based on fields of study, state of the applicant or desired school, religious affiliations...you name it. And there are literally thousands of them.

Grab a copy. Then find a quiet corner where you can read through the scholarships that fit your circumstances. There are also great resources at your local library if you want to add another place to dig into scholarships.

Once you find what works for you, apply and share all of your amazing-ness. :) Be careful not to sacrifice quality over quantity. Taking the time to fully engage in a meaningful way for a few scholarships will be better in the end, than applying to many many scholarships without putting in good work on your applications.

Best of luck to you!
