What needs to be done for becoming a great fashion designer?

I will start my fashion degree this year and want to think like a designer.

Below are my suggestions:
1. Watch the fashion shows of famous fashion designers
2. Visit boutique to view different designs
3. Try to do more design and seek the comments from the teachers
4. Look for intern opportunities to work in famous fashion houses.
5. Try to sell your design online and seek the comments

Having a fashion designer in the family I can say the below:
- Don't limit yourself with your academic syllabus at your current college, expand your knowledge further
- Focus on getting great at foundational knowledge, in terms of understanding the core of the fashion business, materials, stitching trends etc.
- Learn about the current designer collections but don't focus too much on them, take inspiration and move on.
- Explore until you find your own design style/language.
- There is a lot of competition out there, don't get overwhelmed. There is always space for true talent.
- This is one of the fields where creativity shines so go out there and make it worth it. Be yourself.
