Hi James,
Begin exploring hospitals and non-profits nearby. They might have internships or volunteer roles for you. You could also find remote companies offering these chances.
It's a great idea to talk to your high school guidance counselor if you're ready to start now. Once you enter college, connect with the career center and department heads to learn about more opportunities. Keep going, and you'll find the right path!

James, consider social workers or counseling as an internship position for the groundwork of your psychology career. Speaking with people in a professional environment on a one to one basis will help you grow and learn immensely. Church, non-profit organizations, like food pantry or clothing closets who help the needy may be able to point you towards a social worker or counselor that can mentor you and find office space for you to become an intern. I hope this helps.

Hi James! To find a good internship for your future career, use the resources at your school. If you're in high school, talk to a counselor about local volunteer opportunities to get started. When you start college, ask your advisor about internships. Your area might have programs to help you find one. For example, my daughter got an internship in Public Administration in her town through a state-run organization and had interviews with her advisor. She's been working with the town government for a week and hopes for a full-time job after her internship ends in July. Since you want to run your own practice, try to gain as much experience now, so you're ready after graduation. Good luck!
