What is the most important thing I can do during college / postsecondary to set myself up for a career in nursing?

I am a senior in high school, and I am open to any sort of path that involves nursing.

First, check out your options for schools. Ask for info about pre requisites. Go through your clinicals. That will help you decide on what may interest you. I do suggest you get at least 1 year of med surg. This can help with anything you decide to do.

The best step you can take is to dive right into the field. Getting a job, volunteering, or starting an internship will be incredibly helpful because you'll gain valuable experience. For example, hospitals often welcome volunteers. Once you finish high school, any college you choose will have you take some basic classes before starting nursing courses. But in the meantime, you can learn the basics, meet new people, and get a clear idea of what's ahead!
