I would say time management, learning capabilities and social skills are the top three things you can focus on and continue to sharpen during your college years. These skills will be extremely valuable when you start your professional careers no matter what you do. Also if there are some part-time or summer internship opportunities offered by your school, it is good to explore them as well.

Hello! Discovering a college or university that suits you perfectly can be an exciting journey. Remember, while studying is important, growing as a leader, helping your community, and joining fun activities are just as valuable. Many schools offer clubs and groups that can help you shine as a leader. Joining intramural sports or fraternities can also be a fantastic way to meet new friends and create lasting memories. Just make sure to balance your studies with these activities. You’ve got this—good luck!

Academics comes first. But if you understand your course load and are prepared for classes and exams, go have fun. Learning time management is part of growing up. You'll find the mix of studying, classwork, socializing and other things that works for you.

It is very feasible to be both very social and excel in engineering! Just takes a bit of foresight, and balance. My biggest suggestion is to take as many Summer courses as possible. It will lighten your load during Spring and Fall just a bit and help give you more time during those semesters. Usually the Summer courses are not really the engineering heavy ones, but you can knock out some of your Gen-Eds. I took Summer courses every Summer and it made each semester 3 units lighter.
Other than that, I would say just being really organized, balanced in your social vs educational life, and sticking to a plan will allow you to stay on top of work but have time for socializing.
Try to study for every class everyday, even just 15 minutes. This way you don't need to cram last minute on things. You will only have 3-5 hours of class each day, which means, if you treat college like a full time job, you have another 3-5 hours you could commit to studying, and then you would have the rest of the day to do anything else you would like!

Along with focusing on your studies, it's a great idea to join student groups where you can meet new friends who share your interests. You might find intramural sports or school clubs about games and other fun activities. If there's no Car Club, you could team up with other car fans to start one!
When you interview for internships, you can talk about your academics and your involvement in these student groups. Having leadership roles in these organizations will be a big plus.
Have fun and work hard in college!

The good thing about being an engineer the problem-solving skills that we developed over the years. It will become very useful in any field you choose. The methods is pretty much the same for all problems so I'm confident that you will do well in any chosen path. I advise you pick the one that makes you happy and apply all knowledge and experience that you have, and don't stop learning along the journey. I wish you luck!

To make the most of your college experience, focus on reaching out and making friends. Building connections is crucial for your mental well-being. The friends I made in college have been invaluable, especially during stressful times.
Start by exploring the various clubs and organizations on campus. Check out bulletin boards or flyers in the student center or memorial union. Joining a club that interests you is a great way to meet like-minded people, and you might even find others in your major. This can help you build a network and connect with older students who can offer advice on which instructors are best. They might also help you with challenging assignments or explain difficult concepts if you encounter a tough instructor.
If you live in the dorms, take advantage of the social events like special dinners or cookouts. These gatherings are excellent opportunities to meet new people and form lasting friendships.
