Congrats on going to college in a few months Samuel! That’s super exciting and what a great question you have! Remember to take care of you. The balance will come with time and it always takes a little bit to find your own groove. What works for one person, might not be best for you. I had lots of friends in college who worked at night and did classes during the day while resting when they could. I knew that wouldn’t work as well for me. I worked during the day as best as I could around my class schedule. Try to find what works best for you personally. Even the time of day that you eat or go for a walk will be helpful information. You’re jumping into a new schedule and I know it can feel like a lot, but really it’ll get easier as you go along. You’ll find your favorite ice cream place or your favorite professor. It’s all about discovery and embracing the adventure. Take it one day at a time and try not to rush yourself. Be patient with you. You’ve totally got this!
Make a list of quesitons to figure out for yourself. (Examples could be: am I a night person or do I work better during the day? What is my course schedule looking like? Do I have time in the mornings or in the evenings?)
Don't forget to keep things you enjoy just for you in mind. (Examples: going for walks in the morning instead of evenings due to work/school, hanging with friends on the weekends after homework/work, meal prepping in the evenings after classes)

Build a schedule and stick to it. That was the biggest thing for me. The sudden increase in responsibility gave me all kinds of anxiety — as long as I laid out a clear plan and told myself that I had "these" hours to complete whatever I needed to complete, I was good. Hold yourself accountable — and recognize early that there will rarely ever be a time in your college life where it's better to do something later rather than right now. Getting up at 5a to finish a paper sounds appealing in the moment but I regretted it EVERY. TIME. Most of all though, give yourself grace to make mistakes. Only way to learn. Pulling for you Samuel!
