Tips on getting a job when your field isn't hiring?

I'm going into veterinary medicine but my area isn't offering anything related to it right now. What jobs can I get that can still be connected through resume? Something like bookkeeping, receptionist, people jobs, groomer... etc.

It’s really good that you already have certain jobs in mind that you would be willing to have, now the most important part, and the most annoying part, is going out and asking a different businesses what they have available. In a lot of job fields now, people are hiring for attitude not for skill so by going out and showing companies that you want to be there, that you’re actively searching for jobs, in ways that others aren’t willing to, some will give you a job because they see the passion you’re bringing.

So TL;DR:
Go out and ask businesses if they’re hiring, get on the phone and call because it’s not the hungry child who gets feed but the loud one who continues to ask.
