Hi Alaya,
You might be able to get your CNA certificate through a Dual Enrollment program. These programs are partnerships between high schools and local community colleges, allowing you to earn college credits while still in high school. This can save you time and money and give you a head start on your college education. Often, these courses are free.
Your high school counselor is the best person to talk to about Dual Enrollment programs, as many are set up through high schools. Each program is different, so be sure to check with the colleges you're interested in to learn about their specific requirements, available courses, and transfer credit policies.
Even if your local community college doesn't have a CNA program, you can still take other courses needed for your LPN degree, which can help reduce the time and cost of getting your degree. A quick search shows that Delaware Technical Community College and Delaware State University offer opportunities for high school students to take classes.
Good luck!

If you’re in Delaware and looking for CNA or LPN programs, check out Delaware Tech and Polytech Adult Education, they have solid options. Some nursing homes and hospitals also offer free CNA training if you agree to work for them afterward. LPN programs usually take about a year and aren’t fully online (because of clinicals), but many mix online coursework with in-person labs. Starting as a CNA can be a great first step to get experience and even financial support toward becoming an LPN later.

Hello, Alaya !
You can obtain your training to be a Certified Nurses Assistant or a Licensed Practical Nurse at some places in and near where you live. These careers cannot be done online and must be done in person, onsite. More about that later.
To become educated and Trained as a Certified Nurses Assistant, you can go to Delaware Technical Community College as they have a CNA program at its Terry Campus located at 100 Campus Drive in Dover. It costs $1,839. This program includes classroom instruction, laboratory practice, and clinical experience and it all has to be done in person. The program lasts 8 weeks. Del Tech also offers non-credit CNA programs through its workforce development and community education office, which may be covered under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act program, potentially making them free for eligible individuals.
Unity Career Institute offers a 4-week CNA program at 2131 South DuPont Highway, Suite 4, in Dover. It costs $2,428.00. Also contact Unity Career Institute, Coleman's CNA Academy and Dawn Career Institute in Newark, DE to inquire about the details of their CNA programs. There are programs for Licensed Practical Nurse at Delaware Technical Community College, Polytech Adult Education in Woodside and Delaware Skills Center. Call to ask all of the institutions if they have programs for income eligible students which will enable you to not have to pay. Only they would have this information.
Since you are thinking about doing these healthcare professions for free and alone on the internet, I would like to give you some insight as to why this is not effectively done online. You will be expected to confidently work hands on with individuals that are frail, sick, inured, have a disability and sometimes behavioral health issues in addition. It is vital to have good written and verbal skills as you will need to write evaluation notes in charts about the patient. By doing it in person, you will get to see the tools, devices and equipment involved which is more impactful than an image or video online. Both programs include clinicals, hands on work with patients and doing your classwork online will not give you an effective foundation for doing your clinicals. As well, your teachers will not be familiar with you if you just step into your clinicals all of a sudden after doing online classwork and you should connect with your teachers during your program. The online programs for these careers are not completely online and are considered Hybrid. That is, you have to do the clinicals in person. Fully online programs are not considered good by nursing professionals. There are also CNA to LPN bridge programs that you can look into if you are willing to do it in person. Be sure to ascertain that whatever program you select is accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools, the National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation, or the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing.
So give these careers some thought. You can probably jump the fee hurdle if you find a fee waiver program at one of the institutions, but doing it online partially or fully is not advisable for any medical or healthcare career.
Wishing you all the best !
