There are absolutely no downsides to any form of college education.

As a biologist, you will need to definitely take primary courses in biology and chemistry with secondary courses in physics and math.
You can work in plant biology or human biology or animal biology. In the area of human biology, you will have vast area to work in like in health care or pharmacy (medicine). You could work, for example, in biological labs or pharmacy industry or hospital or nursing care setting.

By majoring in biology, you can also set your sights on being a physician or dentist or nurse or surgical assistant etc.

I hope this helps.

It can't hurt to explore different areas of biology or find a volunteering or internship opportunity. There are often workshops for neuroscience, molecular biology, and coding for high school students at local biotech companies, universities, and startups. At least you should have classes in: general biology, evolution, genetics, anatomy/physiology, chemistry, physics, ethics, seminar (often presentations where you can ask questions and explore different research topics with the speaker), technical writing, and whichever specialty you choose.
