When choosing a university to transfer to for electrical engineering, focus on the program's quality. Look for strong labs, advanced courses, and skilled professors. Schools with modern equipment and hands-on projects are usually well-funded. Universities with research centers or industry links often have solid backing.

Think about how well the school supports transfer students. Places with dedicated advisors and clear pathways can help you keep your credits and stay on track. Check for internship and co-op opportunities, and talk to current students or visit the campus to see if it's a good fit for you.

Consider schools like UC Berkeley, California State University Los Angeles, the University of the Pacific, and the University of Cincinnati. They support transfer students and offer research and internship opportunities. Make sure you complete the required courses and keep your grades up for a smooth transition and access to these chances.

Hi Alondra,

It depends on where you want to go. Something the counseling department at the community college is helping determine which school will accept the GE credits from the classes you already took. Personally I recommend sticking to public universities within the CSU system. However you would need check if those schools have an Electrical Engineering program. UC Santa Cruz , CSU Fresco State, Cal-Poly San Luis Obispo all have good engineering programs and I've worked with multiple graduates from those schools. I think UC Merced has an Electrical Engineering undergrad program but if they do it's still pretty new so I can't recommend it.

I hope this is helpful, but take my advice with a grain of salt.
Thank you comment icon Okay, thank you for the advice! I'll take a look at the colleges you recommend Alondra

Hi!
I think there are so many factors to look at when transferring to a university from a community college. You'll want to make sure it's the best fit for you! Ensure the university will accept your transferring credits. Do a campus visit if you can so you can make sure it's the right fit for you.

Check with the universities you're interested in to see what scholarships, internships, work/study programs and financial assistance they offer above and beyond the FAFSA. Some private institutions have more available so don't rule them out before asking. You can always try the appeal process for additional funds.

I hope this little bit helps!
