What is the best way, in your experience, to further your passion for the job you have pursued and what steps have you taken to further yourself in your career field?
I’m really looking for ways to get more excited about entering into nursing, especially how to eventually take my career further than maybe just being an R.N.

Your field may differ from mine, but your question is important for any career. From my experience, showing up every day and doing my best is foundational. It's not just about completing tasks but ensuring my work and my team's work are top-notch and exceed expectations. In my field, working across various industries keeps things interesting and engaging. In nursing, this might mean exploring different specializations or locations. The key is using your core skills and adapting them to new areas.
I enjoy learning new skills, which keeps my job exciting. Invest in yourself and stay updated with the latest innovations in your field. For example, think about how AI might change patient care, benefiting both you and your patients. Imagine how this new technology can help you offer preventive care in groundbreaking ways.

That is a great question Tate! and you already started to answer it yourself by asking it.
In my opinion and for pretty much any passion I think the 3 keys are to be curious, be driven to learn more and more and embrace that you do not know it all.
1. Be Curious - Any passion, interest, skill, or subject can be dug into in different ways, from different angles and with different resources. Read, talk to people, question, experiment, these are the things that can not only teach you about the career/skill/discipline you are passionate about but even fuel that passion even more. Sometimes it may even take you to an adjacent area that you had never even thought of.
2. Driven to Learn - The world around us and almost every skill/profession/discipline changes and that rate of change is only getting faster. For many this is daunting and scary but for a few it is even more exhilarating. It also means your growth potential is unlimited as there will always be more to learn and explore.
3. Embrace that you do not know it all - One of the hardest things (especially for technologists which is where I live) is being OK and even excited by the fact that you do not know everything. My kids and other young people I work with have heard me time and time again say "If you know everything I can teach you nothing". Many of us want to be the experts, want t have all the answers and often feel like we failed when we don't. That is not a knowledge problem but a perspective problem. You can never get any better if you already know everything. Attacking the areas where you find yourself weakest or most lacking or grasping growth and learning opportunities when the arise (guest lecturers, courses, a new YouTube video, etc.) is only possible when you understand that you are not now or will you ever be all knowing. Even if you are the best at what you do there are always areas for branching out or to improve.
When you get to be the expert or really knowledgeable about anything I often find the best way for me to sharpen my saw often is teaching others how to do things or explaining concepts as I have rarely walked out of a session, a lecture or a meeting where I was explaining something that I did not gain insight from my preparations, others questions or through the conversations that it sparks.
I hope you find this helpful and I am very excited as you embrace your journey I think you'll find you growth capabilities are limitless.
