What would be the best position or job for someone who loves working with kids and has a passion for teaching, but is unsure if they can handle a classroom full of kids?
I am a high school senior thinking about my future, and I am a little unsure about where I want to take my teaching career. I know I want to be a teacher, but not so sure I want to handle a classroom of 20 or more kids. I was thinking I could be a speech pathologist, but I don't know what other options I have. Do you know any other teaching career options I could explore?

Hi Sofia. If you enjoy helping children learn but prefer a more individualized or small group setting, becoming a speech-language pathologist is a fantastic option. In this role, you would work with students who have trouble with speaking, understanding, or communicating. Most of your work would be one-on-one or in very small group.
There are other teaching related jobs that don't require running a full classroom. For example, you could work in special education, helping students who need extra support. You could also become a reading or math specialist, working with small groups of students to help them improve their skills. Tutoring, educational therapy, and instructional coaching are other options where you work closely with individual students.
Even becoming a school counselor allows you to help kids grow and succeed without managing a classroom full of students.
Wishing you all the best.

Hello! I am currently a teacher’s assistant and I find it quite similar to being a teacher. You don’t have to deal with a classroom full of kids by yourself and it is a great way to start a career in the education field.
