Is a criminal profiler a real job and if so, is it only in the FBI?
I learned about the criminal profiler career and it inspired me to want to become one. Is it a real job? I've gotten mixed responses before so I'm uncertain. If it is real though, is it only a job in the FBI or can I be a criminal profiler outside of the FBI?

Hi Erica!
In short, yes, criminal profiling is a real job. It's used in local police departments, state police, and federal law enforcement agencies in the same way. You need to start with a bachelor's in a related field, like criminology, psychology, or forensic science. Then you need to be a sworn LEO, followed by extensive training, and maybe even a masters degree.
Good luck!
