If you know a bit more with computer networks, or you're looking to work directly with computer networks, CompTIA's Network+ and Cisco's CCNA are good starting points. If your focus is security, CompTIA Security+ is a good starting point. For security, you'll want to determine which aspect of security you're interested in.
