How did Visual Communication at DelTech go for you?
Hello Everyone!
I had a question for anyone who went to DelTech and did the Visual Communications connected degree. I really want to know how that went for any of you and what specific transfer option y’all chose, since I know there’s a few. I’m planning to do this path and lately I’ve been nothing but stressed.
I would really appreciate any answers and advice!

I didn't attend Delaware Technical Community College, but as a general College and Career Advisor, I presume you are waiting for some information and advice about this ! As a Visual Communication Major in college, you will be learning graphic design, illustration, photography, multimedia, and user experience design.
The most accurate and best way to be more informed is to call the college to register for an on campus orientation so that you can get a feel for the campus and see their Visual Communications Department. You will have a unique experience and knowing other people's exact experiences will not necessarily give you the insight you need for your own experience. Taking the campus orientation would greatly help you.
Delaware Technical Community College offers their Visual Communication Associates Degree Program at their Dover Campus. I think they have guaranteed transfer to Wilmington University to continue for your Bachelors Degree but you will have to double check that with the college and you can ask about transfer availability while you take the orientation.
I am happy that you've reached out about this awesome academic path and career and there's no reason to feel stress about it. All the information you will need is right there at Delaware Technical Community College which you can obtain by visiting them, e-mailing them, phoning or at their website. Take a deep breath and know that you can do this ! Take it one step at a time.
Delaware Tech's program consists of learning creative problem solving, user experience, and technical proficiency using industry standard tools like Adobe Creative Suite. You will like this path if this sounds good to you. You may want to familiarize yourself beforehand with Adobe Creative Suite if you haven't already. The fields that you can have a career in are graphic design, illustration, web design, videography, photographer, social media content creator, and pre-press technician.
If you decide to go for your Bachelors Degree at Wilmington University, you can go into the following Programs to Major in one - Graphic Design, Web Design, Video and Film Production, Game Design and Development, Marketing or Photography. In other words, if you get your Associates Degree from Del Tech in Visual Communications, it will have prepared you for the programs at Wilmington University for your Bachelors degree. Decide which exact career you want to do and take a major for your Bachelors that will concentrate on that once you transfer from Del Tech.
Information about college and majors can sometimes be best understood if it's through a one on one conversation where you can ask real time questions and possibly receive written information to refer to later on so it's important to visit the campus to get all the information you'd need.
If you go to Del Tech for your Associates in Visual Communications, you will have the great opportunity to have your work seen at their Annual Student Show. You may be able to catch their 2025 Show on their website in a virtual format. Very much worth exploring !
Most importantly, do not worry about this. To alleviate any wondering or stress about the program, Del Tech allows high school students to visit classes through its Visiting High School Students program. This means that you can sit in on a class or two, but you have to call the college and ask what the process and requirements are for this program. Sitting in on a class or two in the Visual Communications Department may make you feel more at ease and give you insight. It's hard to know the reality of it when just thinking about it. You have to contact Del Tech directly to discuss this and I left a link below to their information page about this program.
I hope this helps for a start and I wish you all the very best moving forward !
