Has anybody done the 8 week ROTC summer aviation training program?

I am a senior in highschool and I have been looking more into it lately but I don’t want to go to the Air Force or anything. I understand you walk away with a private pilot certificate. Would doing civil air patrol be better? Which one do I actually accrue a lot of hours??

Hi Corinne, while ROTC offers valuable exposure, ground school basics, simulators, and discipline, it doesn't provide many flight hours. If you want more hands-on experience, a private pilot license is a great option. With a PPL, you'll get 40-50 real flight hours and an FAA-recognized license. It sounds promising if you choose to build your career this way. Wishing you all the best as a future pilot!
