I have no idea what career you are referring to as it is not mentioned. Different career paths require different approaches. In general I would join clubs in the field you are considering and join them with an intern mindset. Get to know people in these clubs and pick their brains (ask questions) in a sociable manner so that you can develop ties within the community. Volunteer to help for any breaks you have in your school schedule which can be used in your resume as skills & experience. Research any apps that are being used in the field you are considering and get familiar with a variety them. Don’t get hung up on just one app because many industry professionals do not gravitate to just one for too long. You want to learn the functionality of these apps so when you are asked about them, you can rattled off your understanding as opposed to your lack of practical application. It shows that you are willing to dig to get answers. If there is literature on the industry then pick up a few copies and email the authors a gratitude letter. This will make great conversation with any interviewer you tell. When looking at companies you may want to work for, make a list of top companies and work your way down from best to whatever falls beneath best. You will get a few no’s but eventually a yea will pop up. Many time at a higher level than if you had started at the low end first (which many do)
Let’s just start with this! Remember! If you do fall, always fall forward!

Hi Kyle, that is solid and well-rounded advice, and the fact that you already understand the importance of hard work, skill building, and gaining early experience shows a level of maturity that will take you far in whatever career you choose. Working hard in school builds the discipline and foundation you need for any professional path, and it also opens doors to scholarships, honors programs, and opportunities that can give you a competitive edge down the road. Learning new skills is equally important because the job market is always evolving, so being someone who is adaptable and always growing makes you valuable to any employer or industry you enter. Gaining experience early through jobs or volunteering is one of the smartest moves a student can make because it gives you real world exposure, helps you figure out what you enjoy and what you don't, and builds a network of people who can mentor and support you along the way. On top of your great advice, I would also add that students should never be afraid to ask questions and seek mentorship from people who are already where they want to be, because learning from someone else's experience can save you time and help you avoid common mistakes. It's also important to remember that setbacks and failures are not the end of the road but rather lessons that shape you into a stronger and more resilient professional. You clearly have a strong mindset and a good head on your shoulders, so keep leading by example and sharing that wisdom with your peers. Keep pushing forward and stay hungry for growth, Kyle!

Hi Kyle,
I would encourage students to stay focused in school and take the time to build skills that match their interests. It also helps to get early experience through part-time jobs, volunteering, or internships, so you can learn what the work is really like. Since there was no mention of a particular career, I would say to decide on a career, look for a mentor who excels in that area, and learn from them. Be open to learning, ask questions, and take advantage of opportunities as they come. The more effort you put in early, the more confident and prepared you will feel as you move forward.
