As a professional in the Entertainment industry, what secondary source of income would you recommend having?

I have always had a reliable day job to accompany my pursuit of an acting career. That stability came at the cost of fully jumping into my career and developing it, as I didn't have the time.
I know work in this industry is not the most stable, so what sort of side-business would you recommend?

Currently debating on taking Business / Accounting / Real Estate / Law classes to have another, more reliable model of income to work on.

Many colleagues Uber Eat, Tutor/Teach Classes, or Nanny. I'm looking for other answers. Thank you kindly!

Hi Malee! In today's age, you have so many different options for a secondary-business just as you have listed out. Being you as are pursuing an acting career which differs significantly from business, finance and accounting, taking classes in the business field could help you with better understanding the business side of the entertainment industry. Understanding how the numbers work can help you in the long run, such us whether you are being compensated fairly for a particular project. As for real estate, this is a popular option for freelancers since you are able to work at your own pace and your performance is solely attributable to your own abilities. Unlike business and law, the barrier to enter the real estate industry is lower and the real-life experience you can gain from it is vast. To throw an idea out there for you, being as you are pursuing an acting career, I would assume you are comfortable being in the spotlight and/or have strong public speaking skills, thus I would recommend considering options where you can leverage that as much as possible. My ultimate advice is to pursue what you are curious in and continue to leverage what you already know to help you succeed in new areas. By doing so, you will compound your knowledge and abilities at an exponential rate and people around you will definitely notice it which leads to even more opportunities!

If you're interested in spending some time learning and connecting with local businesses, here's a great option:

1. Using tools like Claude and Claude Code, you can easily create a website with payment options. It usually takes about 3-4 days, and there are many online resources to help you.

2. Once you've learned this skill, you can help local businesses by creating their websites and managing their social media.

You can also find similar work on freelancing platforms like Fiverr and Upwork.

Thanks for considering this opportunity!
