Hi Emma

If you are in high school, pursue any/all creative endeavors that your school offers (eg. designing sets for school plays, art classes, graphic design, and so on). You could also see if your local community college offer programs/classes specific to high schoolers. Are there any local artists, designers, architects in your town? Consider sending them note asking if they hire interns in the summer, or if they'd be amenable to having you shadow someone for a day or a week to get a taste of what they do.

As for college, you might consider a school that offers both business classes and creative pursuits, as well. You can find school curriculums online; check them out to see if the offerings (and mandatory classes) excite you. Expose yourself to as much (and as many people) as possible and the rest will follow. In other words, keep following what you find interesting and makes your spirit happy. The money will follow.

Best of luck to you.

P.S. I love Ayelada and can't miss a visit there when I am in Pittsfield :)

Hi Emma,

Landing a job that fits all your interests and offers good pay can be tough. If traveling is a big goal for you, think about majoring in travel at college and taking art as a minor.

Beyond school, you could use social media to share your travel adventures and art. This might even help you earn some money. You'll need to be good at creating content and handling media.

Ultimately, your success will depend on the choices you make and how you see creativity.

Hi Emma,

Since you are interested in architecture, creativity and design, you can look at going to college for architecture or interior architecture/design. Other options would be industrial design, product design or graphic design. They all allow you to use your creative side and offer some job stability. Check out different jobs as well as education requirements and job prospects.

Travel can be a personal hobby or you could strive for an international career in architecture or design that also allows you to travel professionally.

I hope this helps! All the best to you!

Consider attending a good architecture school..ex: Cornell School of Art and Architecture. You could travel overseas for a junior year abroad. Architects usually have a good income as well.
Caution about worrying about future income rather follow your talents and dreams. Money is not fulfillment!
