After college, I moved to Chicago and saw many people getting jobs at big companies there. I wanted to be different and make my own way. But looking back, I wish I had started at one of those companies for two reasons:
First, my friends who worked there made a lot of connections, which helped them socially and professionally for years. Second, they advanced in their careers by learning through training and experience. They had the chance to try different things and find what worked best.
Also, when thinking about a career in business, remember it includes many roles like sales, marketing, engineering, and compliance. It's important to think about what you enjoy and how you can contribute best.

There is no wrong place to start! The key is to be business curious and gain as much knowledge and experience as possible. There are a lot of resources out there that could provide some good direction, but talking to small-business owners would give the best insights. Any business classes would be a strong place to start, to have your own business some understanding of finance, operations and management would likely be helpful. Depending on what type of business you would like to start, think about the aspects and skills that would play a big role in that and be able to get a good baseline understanding in.
