College is your chance to explore and discover who you are. Being away from family and friends for the first time can feel both exciting and a little scary, but it's a great opportunity. Remember, the effort you put into your college experience will shape what you get out of it.
If you like sports, try joining intramural teams. Get involved in clubs that match your interests—it's a wonderful way to meet new people. Attend college events whenever you can; you never know the connections you'll make or the experiences you'll have just by being there. Everyone around you is also figuring things out for the first time, so you're all in this together.
College has given me lifelong friends and experiences I wouldn't trade for anything. You can have this too by putting yourself out there, meeting new people, and learning about different perspectives.
Enjoy your freshman year, Nick! It's a new adventure that will be exciting and help shape your future.

chance to completely let loose just because you’re away from your parents. That kind of freedom can easily turn into losing direction. Your academics still matter a lot, especially if you plan to apply for a master’s degree later.
At the same time, don’t focus only on studying. Join clubs, take on small leadership roles, and get involved in activities. Those experiences help you build organization and leadership skills, and you’ll meet people who may influence your future in unexpected ways.
