For studying, here are some great resources:
Amboss: It's excellent for articles on clinical symptoms, diagnostics, treatment, and more. Plus, it has practice questions that link to specific articles, so you can choose questions by organ system or topic.
Sketchy: Offers videos with images to help you remember concepts, especially useful for learning about bugs and drugs.
First Aid: This was my go-to resource during my first year. I bought a physical copy and highlighted, marked, and added Post-it notes throughout the year. It was super helpful for studying for STEP 1.
Anatomy Lab: If your medical school offers a gross anatomy lab with dissections, go as often as you can. Bring friends and study together with multiple bodies. It’s really helpful for both practicals and written tests.
Advice to my younger self:
Enjoy the summer before you start medical school. Don’t stress about studying or preparing too much. The best preparation is to relax and have fun because things will get busy quickly.
During your first year, make sure to get out and about. Study in coffee shops, visit farmers' markets, and enjoy the fresh air and sunshine. It’s a great way to refresh and keep your spirits high.
