To become a lawyer, you'll need to start with a four-year bachelor's degree in any major. After that, you'll take the LSAT exam, which is the entrance test for law school. Then, you'll attend a three-year law school program that is approved by the American Bar Association.

My experience is the same as outlined by Dennis - four years of undergraduate and three years of law school, then the multi-state exam and the state-specific bar exam. I am not aware of any alternative licensing pathway. If you know the particular state where you want to become licensed, you should check their state bar (licensing entity) as well as their state association (profession entity). Those web sites should guide you to the licensing requirements in that jurisdiction.

Hi Blessin: Well to become a lawyer of any type you need to go to law school. College is 4 years. After you graduate from college you need to attend law school - which is usually 3 years. Soit is 7 years of schools but not the same one. You need to apply to a law school and get accepted. You do not automatically go to law school. It's a process. You need to take the LSATs (Law school admission test) and with those scores nd your grades from college you apply.
So keep your grades up. Stay out of trouble and enjoy the process.
Good luck!
