Hey Abigial! While I have not studied for the NCKEX, I have studied and completed my CPA exams (4 separate exams), and I feel like there are some shared experiences we have in how difficult it can be to study for a certification exam.

It took me roughly a year to study and pass all four of the individual exams, and I definitely had many ups and downs during that process. I would summarize what I learned to the following points:

1) The most important part of studying is consistency. Do not stress about whether you studied for 4 hours, 8 hours, or 20 minutes in a day, just focus on whether you studied at all. Building habits of consistently sitting down for a studying session is where you will find success. Even if it's only for a few minutes to review, even if it's not as productive of a studying session as the previous day, try as often as you can to just sit down and study. These exams are LONG and are going to take time to study for. Just try to be consistent. The more often you can convince yourself to sit down, the better.

2) Be kind to yourself!! If you take a practice exam, and you don't pass it, try again. If you take the real exam, and you don't pass it, try again. These exams are designed to be difficult, so please be kind to yourself and be willing to keep trying!

3) Ensure that you take steps to maintain your mental health. It's very easy to get caught up in the singular goal of passing your exam, but please do not neglect your mental and physical health. Take breaks, go on walks, make sure you eat food before & after studying, and please get your sleep. A healthy body and mind will help you perform your best in every avenue of life.

4) Find your formula of success for studying! For me, it was going to quite, local cafes and buying a coffee. That would help put me in the right mindset and lead to my best studying sessions. For you, it could be putting on headphones at home, going to the school library, or studying with friends. Find the studying method that works best for you, and replicate it as often as you can!

5) Remember that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. After a year of studying for my CPA exam, I was so tired and over studying. There were many times where the thought of giving up crossed my mind. In those moments, I reminded myself why I was studying, and what this would do for me. I kept pushing, and I finished my exams. If you keep pushing, I know you will too!!

I believe in you! Best of luck, and have a good time!

Do lots of practice questions every day, then review why each answer is right or wrong.
Focus on understanding rationales, not memorizing facts in isolation.
Use spaced repetition for weak areas so you revisit them before you forget them.
Take full-length timed practice exams to build stamina and test-taking judgment.
Track missed questions by topic so your study time goes where it matters most.
