What internships/jobs should I apply to for my wanted major?
I'm currently a high school student going into my first year of college. I'm wondering if there's an easier way to find internships or jobs regarding Criminal Justice/Criminology majors. Is there a specific website or search I can use? Also, what are some habits I have to start getting us to now for me to better integrate in a Criminal Justice career? I would greatly appreciate any advice or tips!

I don't know where you're in school, but my understanding is that UCF has a pretty good criminology department. I would contact the faculty chair of that department (even if you're going to another school) and get some suggestions. Do the same at every school from Tampa to Jacksonville, and even UF and FSU.
Check with the Orange, Osceola, and Seminole Sheriffs offices and local PDs for their ride-along programs. I'm pretty sure they all have them. Also, since you're in college, check with the various LE community relations departments and ask for any detectives or department Lieutenants, Captains or even the Chief or Sheriff and ask for a few minutes to get their thoughts about career paths. IDK if you're interested in law school, but even if you aren't the various county and city attorney's offices work hand-in-hand with law enforcement. Directors of Corrections are another place to check - my friend is retired from Volusia county in that capacity and is very knowledgeable, so I would think that someone in that role in any of the Central Florida counties would be a good resource.

Depending on the career path you would like to take after completing your criminal justice major, many universities will offer internal internships with their campus police departments or you could reach out to different agencies in your surrounding area and inquire if they offer such opportunities. If you are interested in a law enforcement career, most at a minimum will allow you to ride along with an officer and get a feel for how a typical day is at that department. If looking at a civilian role or something along the lines of crime scene investigations, etc., departments also might be willing to let you shadow different positions as long as there is no risk of confidential information being exposed. If you are looking more to the federal side I believe FLETC.gov may offer a section of information regarding internships as this is where all the main federal agencies go to train. Most of the big federal agencies such as FBI and DOJ also have internship opportunities available. Good luck with whatever you choose and I hope this helps!
