It depends on the area and the type of work you will be doing but it can be anywhere from 1 - 4 years. It also matters if you are going to just be working in the field, getting a journeyman's license, or a masters license. Likely you will feel out your first few years and then start to get credentials based on the need of the company, area, or union you are working for. When you start there is no immediate need to get a master's license, but as you grow in a company or decide to move into your own company, then you might need licenses, insurance, and bond for your work. Do whatever you can to get into an apprenticeship and get on as many jobs as you can.

Hi - I would seek out reputable programs here:https://www.apprenticeship.gov/career-seekers. Each of these programs will have their requirements listed in the respective registered apprenticeship program. There are timelines laid out in the program which map your skill requirements and compensation until you reach full journeyworker rate of pay.
