How early should I start my dental hygiene plan?

I'm a rising junior in high school and will start dual-credit classes this year, which may allow me to begin prerequisites I need for any program I join. When should I begin my dental hygiene journey? Now, or should I focus on finishing the last two years I already have and start dental hygiene-related activities after high school?
