Robel’s Answer

Hi Bonnie!

If you're interested in many things, you might like majors that keep your options open:

Business – marketing, management, entrepreneurship, finance
Computer Science – software, AI, cybersecurity, data
Information Systems – technology + business
Engineering – design, problem-solving, technology
Psychology – people, behavior, counseling, HR
Communications – media, marketing, public relations

My advice: choose a major that matches your interests and strengths, not just a specific job. Many careers can come from the same degree, and you can always explore different paths along the way. 😊

Elizabeth’s Answer

There are so many great majors out there. A few things to think about:

1. Think about what excites you.
Do you love reading? Enjoy science and learning how the world works? Are you interested in history, technology, art, or helping others learn? Choosing something that genuinely interests you can make your studies more enjoyable and help keep you motivated.

2. Explore careers that interest you.
Look at job boards and read descriptions for roles that sound appealing. Many postings will list preferred degrees or areas of study, whether that's business, engineering, communications, education, or something else. Looking at careers first can help you work backward to possible majors.

3. Remember that a major is not a life sentence.
Many people end up working in fields that are different from what they studied. Degrees often help you develop transferable skills such as critical thinking, communication, problem-solving, research, and data analysis. Those skills can open doors in many different careers.

4. It's okay to change your mind.
If you discover a different interest once you start university, many schools allow students to switch majors or explore different programs before making a final decision. You're not expected to have everything figured out right away.

I know this feels like a big decision, but my best advice is to focus on what interests you, explore careers that sound exciting, and stay open to learning more about yourself along the way. Your major is important, but it doesn't determine your entire future. It's simply one step in your journey, and you can always adjust as your interests and goals evolve.

Rebecca’s Answer

Thank you for your question. Firstly, it needs to find you what careers you have interest
Below are my suggestions :
1. Think what you have interest, eg your hobbies, favorite subjects, etc and identify to related careers
Eg if you like music, would you like to be a musician, singer, musical artist, music composer, music producer, etc.
If you have interest in maths, would you like to be an accountant, engineer, banker, financial analyst, maths teacher, etc
2. Find out more on these careers and determine what you have interest
3. Speak to someone who are working in these careers. Seek guidance from your mentor, school careers counselor, your parents, etc
4. Shortlist 1-2 careers you would like to pursue
5. Explore the entry criteria of relevant subjects in colleges
Hope this helps! Good luck!
May Almighty God bless you!

MANAHIL’s Answer

Hi Bonnie,

Here are quick tips for choosing a major:

- Think about interests :Match hobbies or favorite subjects with careers.
- Explore careers :Research jobs linked to those interests.
- Talk to mentors :Get advice from teachers, counselors, or professionals.
- Shortlist majors :Narrow down to 1–2 options.
- Check requirements :See what subjects or grades are needed.

It’s okay to start “undecided” and explore through general courses until you find the right fit.

Best regards,
Manahil

Rebecca’s Answer

There are a lot of majors at colleges and universities for you to explore. To begin, I suggest looking at your strengths and what you enjoy doing. Once you determine areas of interest, you can search to see what majors would align with your interests and what jobs you can pursue. I was not entirely sure what I wanted to major in to start in college so I applied as "undecided". This allowed me to use my general education courses, which were requirements for everyone anyway, to explore different majors. I hope this helps!

Amanda’s Answer

Hey Bonnie, choosing a major can be tricky! Think about what you enjoy doing. Do you like chatting with people, being creative, or working with computers and engineering? There are more career options out there than you might think, and your interests could lead to a great career!

When I was in college, I found out I loved being creative and wanted to use it practically, so I went for a business degree because it offered lots of options. I ended up majoring in business and marketing.

Consider what you enjoy, and try connecting with people in those fields on LinkedIn or even professors at your college. Getting their insights can really help! The best way to learn is by talking to people who have been there.

Wong’s Answer

There are many majors you can choose from in college or university. Some common choices include business, engineering, computer science, education, medicine, arts, and social sciences.

You can choose a major based on the subjects you enjoy. Think about what you are good at and what topics you like learning about. Your interests can help you find a major that you will enjoy studying.

It is also helpful to think about your future career. Some careers require specific majors, while others allow you to choose from many different fields. Researching different careers can help you make a better choice.

You do not have to know your major right away. Many students take general classes first and discover what they enjoy later. You may also be able to change your major if your interests change.

Johnson’s Answer

Choosing a major involves understanding your interests, strengths, and future goals. With many options available, start by considering what you enjoy and the work environment you desire.

Once you have some ideas, research the jobs in those fields and the degrees they require. Talk to teachers, mentors, or professionals in those roles to learn more about the work.

Don't worry if you're unsure right now. Many start college without a clear direction. Take general education classes to explore your interests, and remember that changing majors later is often possible.

Choose a path that aligns with your goals, not just what's popular or suggested by others. Good luck!
