Interested in biotech, CS, and Cybersecurity.

I'm interested in biotechnology, but my only experience is taking a regular biology class. I'm planning to take AP Biology and my school's biotechnology pathway. Do you have any suggestions for how I can learn more about biotechnology or stand out?

I also heard that there are many biotech jobs in demand, specifically ones including technology, I am also interested in Computer Science and Cybersecurity how can these interests also help my interests in biotechnology.

It’s great that you’re exploring biotechnology, computer science, and cybersecurity because these fields can overlap in exciting ways! Taking AP Biology and your school’s biotechnology pathway is an excellent start. To stand out, look for opportunities to join science clubs, participate in research programs or competitions, and try beginner projects involving Python, data analysis, or bioinformatics.
Your CS skills can help you analyze DNA sequences, process biological data, and support drug discovery. Cybersecurity is also important because healthcare and biotech companies need to protect sensitive medical data, research, and laboratory systems.
My biggest advice is to build a strong foundation before trying to master everything at once. Explore each field through free online courses and small projects, then see which combination excites you most. You don’t need extensive experience yet—curiosity, consistency, and hands-on learning can help you stand out. You’re already taking a great first step by exploring your options early!
