I personally read "One up on Wall Street" by Peter lynch. The Intelligent Investor is also very good, but based on personal experience, I would recommend One up on wall street as INVESTMENT 101 and the intelligent investor as INVESTMENT 201.

Another good book that inspired me was about Benjamin Graham's most famous student, Warren Buffett. Just how did Buffett become super wealthy? If you want to be among the best, read how they became successful.
There are many good books on Buffett. One I enjoyed and which wasn't too technical was Robert Hagstrom's The Warren Buffett Way. http://amzn.to/1WsfeJF
The book showed me that the secret to Buffett's success is not merely understanding the numbers but also the psychology of the industry and the quality of the management.

The Intelligent Investor by Benjamin Graham. This book is a classic and will lay down the foundation for your investment career. I actually hadn't read this book until I was an adult and already in finance but I wish I had read it sooner.
