If I am majoring in architecture, should I get a masters in architecture after I earn my bachelors in architecture?

I know that some people major in civil engineering, then they go to get a masters in architecture or vice versa. #major #civil-engineering #architecture #architect #masters

Hi Diandra, I am majoring in Architecture now. True you do not have to have a Masters Degree you may work in an Architecture Firm under an Architect with a Bachelors Degree. However, by law you will be DESIGNER. You cannot call yourself an Architect until you receive a Masters Degree and take the ARE Exam. There is also a step process called IDP credit. You must also finish all of your IDP. For example one part of IDP is teaching. The way I hope to satisfy my IDP for teaching is to become a Teacher's Aide while getting my Masters. There are lots of ways . The college can help you. Many of the classes in the Masters programs have IDP credits in them.

Hi Diandra,
If you already have in BFA/BS in architecture, you don't really need a masters in architecture. Unless you are going for speciality or research program. If you think you need that, go for the program that offer you double degree. You will complete 4 years in BA/BS in Architecutre and addditional 2 years in Master + working hours. Check with Boston architectural college, they have similar program.
Good Luck!
