As an occupational therapist in California, are there options for incorporating the outdoors and nature into OT?

I am currently a COTA. I moved from NY to RI to go back to school for my masters in OT. After I finish my masters degree, I plan on relocating to the west coast, hopefully California. I love the outdoors but in the north east the time to be outside is limited by extreme cold or extreme heat....I would like to know if there are specific options for outdoor therapy or if I have to incorporate it my own creative way. #california #occupational-therapy #physical-therapy #therapy #medicine #hospital-and-health-care

I am a physical therapist but can suggest that you consider hippotherapy, therapy using horses, which could be done by both PTs and OTs and could also be done outside. I am sure there are more options but you might have to be creative. Look into offering your services to outdoor programs that service people with various disabilities. That is just one idea, I'm sure you can come up with many more. You might work at summer camps for people who have various disabilities, for example.

Good luck.
