[closed] How do you get great at negotiatiing with sales positions?

Hello,

My name is Aimee, and I am a senior with a major of management. My area of study is business administration. I am very interested in the fields of business, and it is helpful to know the general knowledge of different areas such as sales, marketing, administration, management, logistics, and sales. I have heard that with sales, it is good to know the customer inside and out so that a product can fit the needs and lifestyle of the customer. However, I am not sure what other points you can use to help them obtain what they need in a business. How can someone hone their social skills in a business setting, and use it to succeed on the job?

Thank you. #business #strategy #sales #negotiation

Hello Aimee,

there are many sales techniques nowadays, and in my experience, I would like to highlight what I consider the 2 most important (at least that worked well for me):
1.- You have to be passion on what you are selling. You can get that passion only if you LOVE what you are selling. You must be convinced on what you are selling, and you can only get that convincement and passion if you love whatever you want to sale (good, service or even yourself).
2.- You have to inspire trust to your customer/counterparty. To inspire trust, speak with the truth and do not over-sale. Treat people as people, respect who is listening to you and be patience. It is better to have 1 great super sale, than 1,000 small bad sales.

I hope it helped.
Thanks

Hi Aimee,

The answers above are spot on around passion and inspiring trust. I would add confidence in what you are selling. If you have are interested in learning more about negotiation there are many books out there in the business section of stores or the library to look at. Key is you want to know what the you want for an end result and work through the negotiation to get there. Its not always start high and settle low as there are many different ways to approach.

Its a great question and something you will use your entire life in any job you have...Check out the books, it will be worth your time.

Best of luck.
