Depending on the cost of living where you're at $10k/month can be a huge salary.
Make a comparison to the cost of living where you'd like to be located.

Things that will get you to/toward your target:
EDUCATION, experience, working hard, working up, building relationships, reading within the industry, and personal growth & development books, bring more value to the workplace than you're paid for and your job description says, ... Have reasonable expectations on the time it takes to grow along your career path, and corresponding income that comes wiht that growth.

Find your motivation - What's your "Why?" Why do you want to go in this, or that direction? Finding your passion is powerful!!!
Set goals and action plans to meet yourgoals. Each day, make some progress on what's important to you. Review and evaluate goals often (weekly).

Don't be afraid of starting your own business, but it takes its own special set of training and experience to pull off.

STAY OUT OF DEBT!!! as much as possible. It's not a lot of money that makes life easier, better, or makes you happier.... but certainly, good MONEY MANAGEMENT is one of the tools to be used to make a good life. Another area to learn and grow in!!! This workbook is a GREAT starting point on money training; https://www.amazon.com/Money-Matters-Workbook-Teens-15-18/dp/0802463460 (I'm a personal financial counselor)

Hi Weilin,

I think there are lot of careers that'll net you $10k/month. I mean, all you have to do is look at management positions on glassdoor.com and you'll see most managers are pulling $10k/month pre-tax. If we're saying $10k/month after-tax, then I think industries where profits are easy to come by (software, engineering, etc) still have tons of positions where people earn that amount (and then some).

Given that your target isn't very high, I think you should think about what you love to do. I'm sure between your talents and expertise, you'll find a career that you love to do, and thus achieve financial security and happiness. :)

Connect with almost any High-Tech company in the Bay Area and you can be making that and even more within a few years if you want to go into sales. Some of them even have recent college hire programs that will train you. Suggest checking out the company’s website for details.

Sabrina’s Answer

The best way to accomplish that would be to design a software or tech that Microsoft or Apple would want to buy. You could probably retire right after it's bought from you. That is how a lot of people retire before 30, very comfortable I may add.
