In my opinion no. You will still have to take a test when you get to the job.

Anabel’s Answer

Hello Alex,

There are many certifications in different areas, I believe they have value, they can be more important that a carrier already, but take something in consideration, certifications usually has a expired date, so, there are two goals you pursue with a certification, one is actually learn, in that case does not matter because you need the knowledge, that is always important and always a good inversion in you self. The other goal is to add them to your CV to look for a specific job, in that case, be aware of the expires date.

In the IT area, Amazon, Microsoft and Google offer important and great CV competencies certifications, look for them in their web pages.

good luck!

Vernon’s Answer

You should learn all the different processes. SMAW, GTAW and MIG. Depending on your employer in the future they may still need to certify you. I have coworkers that had 20 years experience but they still needed to weld and pass test plates before they were considered qualified to weld.
Getting your certification is a good step but be aware that you may still need to do test plates.

Daniel’s Answer

All of the certifications are worth getting, because they aren't just official designations of competency they allow you the option of opening a business when you don't if you aren't certified. More importantly, they signify that you've put in the effort to complete it. All those look good for future jobs where certs are listed in the job description and will be selected over over those that don't.
Your instructor should give you guys a demonstration of all of the process used today and you will be drawn to one, start there.

Sikawayi’s Answer

Hello Alex, thank you for your question. I would suggest to you that you go through the process of getting your certification were ever you can. Whatever the skill maybe you might nor use it right at that particular point but at some point, in the near future. I know it seems like it's a waste of time but it's not I'll give you an example, I had a client who worked at a childcare center as the director she did her job very well but that was all she knew how to do there were 10 employees underneath her and they all had different certifications none of which she posed. One holiday weekend 3 employees called in sick she probably could have made it to the end of the day if she had at least 2 of the certifications. Best of luck
