Elliot’s Answer

Emanuela,

It sounds like you are answering your own question. You are studying the cloud, Java, and HTML (all fine choices) and enjoying it - maybe add in CSS, JavaScript, Python, and a database like MySQL? Your path is unfolding before you - let it happen. Maybe you'll venture into gaming more deeply. Maybe you'll try Python and do some data science. Its all good - see what is entertaining you and stick with it and dig deeper. From what you said you like, you are on the right track. Good luck.

Jackson’s Answer

Emanuela: Cloud Computing is one of the hottest areas. Cloud Computing is challenging and touches every aspect of our lives. I am also working on Cloud Computing technologies and focusing on network security/cybersecurity. I, too, don't have much programming experience.

I recently signed up for the free AWS training via aws.amazon.com. Learning AWS through video games is fun! Stay focused on your Cloud Computing study. One day, you can create your video games in the cloud and help out people in different organizations.

Jackson recommends the following next steps:

Wilson’s Answer

Cloud Computing is an interesting topic. I am currently working on Amazon Web Services (AWS) & Microsoft Azure for my own projects. You can start with the trainings to get a better understanding of what services they have to offer (and pursue certification). If you like to try AWS or Azure (with or without trainings), you can as well.

If you want to get into it, you should create an account and find if there are any free credits you can take advantage of since you're a student. I believe there is a link on how to get it in AWS, but I need to find it first. I'll edit this answer if I find it. For Azure, I believe I got free credits through my university since they are participating on Microsoft's college program (which I forgot the name as well, will edit once I know it).

I got started with both AWS & Azure using Virtual Machines with Amazon EC2 and Azure Virtual Machines. I find it fun because I could install web applications like WordPress or my own VPNs like OpenVPN Access Server. I like it very much.

You don't have to have programming experience to enjoy cloud computing, but if you're interested in AWS & Azure with programming based services, they have offerings for that as well.

Adrian’s Answer

Hello! I would recommend diving into more programming languages and taking free online courses in python, and data science! You can use skills from those courses to really narrow in on what you want to do and they can help you with your cloud computing focus!

Tony’s Answer

Emanuela, Cloud computing is a very exciting field. Consider one of the newest evolutions of CC to look into. The various layers of CC. Where the virtualized compute and storage actually reside. At the end device edge, in a Manufacturing facility, in the Telco edge, in a hyperscaler's (AWS, MicroSoft, Google...) region......think about the latency improvements for things like gaming when the compute is closer to the end user(s), think about reducing network congestion, think about better battery life by offloading compute/storage resources from the end device.....

Katelyn’s Answer

One of the great things about cloud computing is it applies to almost any industry now! If you have hobbies that you particularly enjoy, let's say reading, there are opportunities at libraries, publishing companies, etc that all involve cloud computing. The skills you develop for CC can be applied almost anywhere! So I would think about what you find exciting in everyday life and then look at industries that fit into your interests.
